Week 1 of the 2010 Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Juried Fine Art Exhibitions proved to be very exciting... Over 100 featured artists were juried in for this years exhibition... Artists hailing from Charleston and around the region hailed in ranging from emerging and mid-career to established masters of there medium.. Participating artists made certain this years exhibition was bigger and better than the last.
Locals and visitors from all over the globe turned out to support the visual and performing arts, enjoying thousands of fine art works sure to please any palate or price range. Improv dancers made there way through spectators.. Other happenings...Free live music, plein air demonstrations and crafts in both the Farmers & Crafts Market created by a number of talented local artisans.
Mayor Riley was on location for the Juried event on day 2, to assist in handing out awards to exhibiting artists and to choose this years work to be hung in the Mayor's Office as part of the permanent Charleston City collection...
Flags were raised all over Marion Square and downtown Charleston to recognize those who served in observance of Memorial Day...A local orchestra played as families, friends, present and past military personnel came out and shared stories and provided support for one another as they paid tribute...
A festival is not complete without the food and treats for the kids! The Marion Square Farmers Market will be back in action this Saturday, June 5th...
